2.1 Writing paragraphs definitive statement - 1 of 3
Paragraph Development by Definitive Statements The topic statement does not always give the exact content of the paragraph-idea. Sometimes it may require a repetition of the statement in simpler terms or the use of synonymous expressions, since these are almost automatically resorted to when you are striving to make your exact meaning clear. Sometimes it may be misunderstood- taken the wrong way- to include more or less than the writer intends. Using this method of developing the paragraph, the writer will therefore define his meaning by limiting or expanding the content of the terms of the topic-statement, to the limits desired. 2.2 Writing paragraphs definitive statement Balance & Antithesis - Lesson 2 of 3
The definitive paragraph uses contrasts to make a point or to develop an idea. This video deals with contrasting ideas, which most naturally express themselves in antitheses and in balanced sentences. They should be used sparingly, and their form of presentation varied. ----------------------- The topic statement does not always give the exact content of the paragraph-idea. 2.3 Writing paragraphs using definitive statements Contrasts, Contraries, Examples- Lesson 3 of 3
Not all contrasts involve the negative form of statement; but every contrast, whether negative or positive in form, has the effect of a closer definition of the main idea. We see a thing more clearly and we define an idea more accurately, when it is contrasted with something else and when its negative or its contrary is stated. Frank Foster and the Pioneer Orchestra - definitive Shiny Stockings
Frank Foster and the Pioneer Orchestra - definitive Shiny Stockings
Ten years after this concert I started the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra in SF and Frank provided me with a lot of his music. He reminded me that this particular version - which combined two of his arrangements - was the ultimate and definitive version. "One day I'll get around to writing this out" but I don't think he ever did. Those familiar with various arrangements of SS will notice how slick this one is with the sax soli and different out chorus. Marcus and Frank play awesome solos too. Rare Ed Pickens solo on bass. I think I can get better audio so I'll repost this shortly.

Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com The series so far: splodinator.com Website: splodinator.com More videos: www.youtube.com Radio Splode: iTunes:itunes.apple.com Welcome back to the Definitive 50. Three sizes of official memory cards were eventually released for the Cube by Nintendo: the Memory Card 59, 251, and 1019. Early on though, only the 59 was available, and was small enough to be filled by just a few games, depending on their save file sizes. To give memory deficient gamers a break, Nintendo actually included a specially stickered Memory Card 59 with copies of Animal Crossing. The game's save took up the whole card. Animal Crossing defies classification. It's a sandbox game, city simulator, messaging service, and retro collection rolled into one. The game begins with the player selecting a few options for his or her character before becoming a new resident in a town populated by big-headed humanoid animals. You're stuck with a sizable loan from resident salesman and crook Tom Nook for your new house, and after that, the game is whatever you want it to be. Players are free to wander the game's patchwork of trees, lakes, beaches, and housing in search of, well, things to do. Tools can be aquired to dig for treasures, collectibles, and home decorations. The game includes a number of natural history relics the can be discovered and used to populate a local museum, for example. Or the player can work to acquire alternate clothing for his or her ...

How To Write Goals
How To Write Goals
HOW TO WRITE GOALS, AND THEN ACCOMPLISH THEM Writing Goals Is One Thing—Achieving Them Is Another Ouch! What was that? I was five and my friend, Doug, was four. We were playing a fun game of Army at a construction site right across the street from my house. I got hit again, and so did Doug. We didnt have any real weapons—what was that? I looked down and saw the clump of exploded dirt that created the paindirt clods. I wonder if the wise person that said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail," demonstrated and taught a strategy to plan, or did he just say, write your goals down. I have been in the goal-setting and success-achieving business since I first had a dirt clod war with the neighborhood hooligans. I was only five. But I understood that if I didn't plan correctly, and follow through, my friend Doug and I would have been clobbered by the bullies. Now, so many years later, I still have that dirt clod victory and many more victories (and failures), helping me prepare for the win. Here is my educated, experienced, and simplified process to boost you toward your success in everything you do: 1. Write out SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, as if you have Achieved them, Realistic, Time-based) 2. Use highly motivational and emotional reasons to succeed 3. Kill your old, bad habits completely and forever 4. Create new, good habits as action items and do them consistently until they become old, good habits 5. Do it now! Writing SMART Goals really allows you to create a ...

American Earth
American Earth
"Every important advance in American environmentalism," according to writer and activist Bill McKibben, "has coincided with—sprung from—some piece of writing, some book. We can't afford those voices to die out." Now, as America and the world grapple with global ecological challenges, McKibben ensures that these voices will be heard with his unprecedented and timely anthology gathering the best that has been thought and said about the interconnectedness of the natural world, our place in it, and our responsibility to it. This April 22nd, The Library of America will mark Earth Day 2008 with the release of the first definitive anthology of American environmental writing: AMERICAN EARTH: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau (hardcover, $40.00), edited by McKibben with a foreword by Al Gore. Touchstones of the environmental imagination—the essays of Henry David Thoreau, John Muir, and John Burroughs; Aldo Leopold's A Sand County Almanac, and Rachel Carson's Silent Spring—are set alongside the inspiring story of an emerging activist movement, as revealed by newly uncovered narratives of pioneering campaigns for wilderness conservation, passages from landmark legal opinions and legislation, and searing protest speeches.
